Why won't anybody tell me which strain of avian influenza they've found in Delaware and New Jersey? I just know we'll be asked something about it in the exam.
So far I've found out: China ->H5N1
Delaware is claimed H7 not human pathogen

And if I have to look at my books one more minute, I'll go crazy - not that anybody would know the difference.
I'm going to read smut for an hour.

If you're quoting articles about copyright, you should at least *read* them.

The default you should assume for other people's works is that they are copyrighted and may not be copied unless you know otherwise. There are some old works that lost protection without notice, but frankly you should not risk it unless you know for sure.

It is true that a notice strengthens the protection, by warning people, and by allowing one to get more and different damages, but it is not necessary. If it looks copyrighted, you should assume it is. This applies to pictures, too.
And just the fact that in this picture there was an X in the place where you'd expect a signature that had nothing obvious to do with the picture should have told you "This is the sign of the artist, showing that it's his/her work".

When I first encountered this picture it was in form of a link to the artists webpage. Along with the usual comment 'Look what this amazing artist did.' See, it's possible to share the excitement about a great piece of art without misleading people.
Of course it's not longer possible because the artist took the HP art down.
But to my understanding of copyright (which is admittedly only based on common sense and *reading* the links posted in the regular debates) it would for example have been possible for you (while admittedly being not absolutely legal), to mention that you have a copy of this amazing picture by the artist who also did (link to any of the other art on the artists website) and if someone wanted to see it, you could mail it to them.
I you wanted to be really safe, you could have asked to artist if this would be ok with her/him.

I wanted to look up the "Sorry, didn't know that... response, because I remember you insulting the artist in the same comment (which I saw as a bit counterproductive in making people believe you actually understood you mistake) but it seems to have disappeared. I wonder why.

I tried that and searched and searching for Z and Harry Potter pictures is a needle in a haystack. I only got software products when I searched. I just thought the X was for glamour use or something. :/

Because someone got angsty and deleted my entry in the snape potter community. I guess people don't like to mess with stuff...
