While I'm waiting for this stupid download to finish
Why won't anybody tell me which strain of avian influenza they've found in Delaware and New Jersey? I just know we'll be asked something about it in the exam.
So far I've found out: China ->H5N1
Delaware is claimed H7 not human pathogen
I'm going to read smut for an hour.

no subject
(At least I think that's what you're trying to find out). And I have very little idea what that means, but I found it here:
http://www.cdc.gov/flu/avian/h7factsheet.htm
::grin::
Re:
Oh god, thanks! You wouldn't believe how long I spent on this search.
(I get a bit paranoid right before exams)
*Adds cdc to bookmarks*
Thanks again.
Re:
I'm really glad it helped. It was the second site I went to after putting "avian influence delaware new jersey" into the search engine - I'm thinking that it must have come up quickly for me because I'm using a search engine based in the U.S. (and maybe because my search engine is in English, whereas the one you use is in German?). I actually thought you'd probably already had this info, but figured it wouldn't hurt to send it again. Now I'm really glad I sent it.
And the CDC is pretty useful . . . I check it from time to time when there are colds and flu, or if Connor seems to have some symptom that worries me a bit (but not enough to take him to the doctor). It's a good source of info, and to find out what's actually going around at the time.
Re:
And I did use the English one.
Sehr merkwürdig.
Probably shouldn't have searched for "avian influenca strain delaware".
Was soll's, auf jeden Fall bin ich froh das ich die Antwort jetzt habe.
typisch
(Anonymous) 2004-02-24 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)I did and still people chose to jump at me. The girl who posted it talking about the artist should've had a more professional and mature tone, otherwise I would'nt have explained it like I did. It's sad that you can't hold yourself back from insulting when someone's just trying to see if you will.
Instead you choose to insult the author, the people who made you aware of your mistake and proceeded to show everyone that you have no idea about copyright at all.
I'm sorry wait, because I actually research (http://www.templetons.com/brad/copymyths.html) stuff (http://www.whatiscopyright.org/) and others don't, I'm the one at fault? I'm sure since you have so much at fault, you know much more about copyright than say, someone who's actually been published with a family that actually registers copyrighted stuff. Go find someone else to harass.
Please understand that only you're to blame when now a lot of people think you rude and stupid.
I certainly do.
And please understand that I posted a slash pic for the benefit of others for a cause that well, I think is rabidly even more stupid.
That's all I have to say and I know this will reach you. Tschüs!
Re: typisch
I don't have any problem answering here, but of course this won't reach *you*
Oh well, I can live with this - I'm good at talking to walls.
If you're quoting articles about copyright, you should at least *read* them.
When does Copyright Protection begin, and what is required?
Copyright protection begins when any of the above described work is actually created and fixed in a tangible form.
and of course
The default you should assume for other people's works is that they are copyrighted and may not be copied unless you know otherwise. There are some old works that lost protection without notice, but frankly you should not risk it unless you know for sure.
It is true that a notice strengthens the protection, by warning people, and by allowing one to get more and different damages, but it is not necessary. If it looks copyrighted, you should assume it is. This applies to pictures, too.
And just the fact that in this picture there was an X in the place where you'd expect a signature that had nothing obvious to do with the picture should have told you "This is the sign of the artist, showing that it's his/her work".
When I first encountered this picture it was in form of a link to the artists webpage. Along with the usual comment 'Look what this amazing artist did.' See, it's possible to share the excitement about a great piece of art without misleading people.
Of course it's not longer possible because the artist took the HP art down.
But to my understanding of copyright (which is admittedly only based on common sense and *reading* the links posted in the regular debates) it would for example have been possible for you (while admittedly being not absolutely legal), to mention that you have a copy of this amazing picture by the artist who also did (link to any of the other art on the artists website) and if someone wanted to see it, you could mail it to them.
I you wanted to be really safe, you could have asked to artist if this would be ok with her/him.
I wanted to look up the "Sorry, didn't know that... response, because I remember you insulting the artist in the same comment (which I saw as a bit counterproductive in making people believe you actually understood you mistake) but it seems to have disappeared. I wonder why.

(Anonymous) 2004-02-25 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)I tried that and searched and searching for Z and Harry Potter pictures is a needle in a haystack. I only got software products when I searched. I just thought the X was for glamour use or something. :/
but it seems to have disappeared. I wonder why.
Because someone got angsty and deleted my entry in the snape potter community. I guess people don't like to mess with stuff...
