Well, this scenario isn't so unlikely - I've already had to completely new install my notebook once after I've attempted to apply a Windows update and this shreddered my system.

Don't encourage my subconscious.

But on the positive side, after one complete reinstall making backups suddenly doesn't seem a waste of time any longer :D (Lucky me - I learned this by helping *others* with their crashed computers *klopf auf holz*)
