copy&pasting parts of old reports doesn't have to be a bad thing. But afterward it's really necessary to read the whole thing very closely.
I don't think that turning in a report about a male cat where I'm talking about the colour of the vaginal tissue would go over well.

Probably not, but not as bad as what I do. I tend to write Algebra essays to fulfill my English assignment on Genetics in Psychology.
