My mother just got home and saw my new hairstyle:
"Oh, I like it, it's much less conservative than the last one."

Mothers are supposed to *like* conservative hairstyles - why did I have to get the one of those who didn't read the manual?

If you don't like it, give her to me - I have only just got my mum trained not to criticise my hair. She still can't bring herself to say it looks good. Maybe after another nineteen years.

Today my only problem with my mother is that I can't really join in the ritual complaining about parents. What am I supposed to say? "Ohh, she's terrible, she suggests I get a more stylish haircut."?
