I made it to the cinema for the first time in ... nearly a year?
Saw the newest Indiana Jones Movie. Scared the flatmates with the ammount of information I can recall about the Trilogy. Think translation ('Matt? Wie Schach-Matt?' 'Hurah Eisenhower'? Argh) in addition to Georg Lucas dialoge reduced my enjoyment of the movie a quite bit. Loved it anyway.
Now back to waiting for colleague S to call with a plan for the evening. If he doesn't I might have to make something up myself because staying in on Eurovision night can only end in pain.

Also, what are you doing seeing dubbed movies when there's a movie theater in Berlin that shows nothing but OV?

Oh, how wrong I was. No idea how I forgot Lucas involvment in the franchise, but I did.
And translated Lucas dialogue is so terribly bad. I didn't believe for a long time that Anakin's sand dialogue in Attack of the clones was just as bad in English, because how could it be???
The "Hurah Eisenhower" bit was the worst I think, because not only was it terribly translated, only a few minutes later the original phrase was painted on the atomic bomb and showed anyone with a basic knowledge of English what the translators were trying to translate. It *hurt* to watch that. The Mutt bit only annoyed those of us who had more than a fleeting recollection of the Last Crusade. And why care about those silly people when dubbing a movie, right?
I really had forgotten why I stopped reading and watching the translations at some point. This reminded me of the reason. Argh.
