why
would a vaginal sponge be inserted into a maiden goat? Surely someone else was going to ask. *g* I mean, now that you've said it, I can't not know, damnitall.

Actually, it's pretty boring. Hormonal synchronization of the oestrus in a herd, so that the breeding is more effective.
But I love the fact that I can use the term 'maiden goat' in all seriousness. *g*
