ridicully: (Oh No!)

I obviously didn't go to bed when I should have. But I'm awake. Just ignore the twitching.

Things to be grateful for (Ok, so 'grateful' is the wrong word):

07/07 is one of the few dates that can't be written in a way that'll send me into a fit (and considering everyone is linking to [livejournal.com profile] london_070705 this is a good thing).

If you insist on putting the month before the day, at least be consistent. 9/11/01 (and I've acutally seen this) is simply *wrong*. There's no logic in it. Either it's largest unit of timekeeping/slightly smaller unit of timekeeping/even smaller unit of timekeeping or the other way round. You can't arrange them however you like. [And quite frankly I like to put the thing that is of the most interest in front. So it's hours/minutes/seconds and day/month/year. It makes sense. Trust me.]

The MD at work often writes his dates backwards like that, May 15, and it drives me nuts, too. We're not America yet!

Yeah, month/day/year is how we do it here in the US, but as you might have noticed, we like to cling to silly things that don't make sense over here. How much is that in feet and inches again? What's that in degrees Fahrenheit? The schools have been trying to implement metric for years, and the government even put up metric highway signs in the 1970s. Do you know what people did? THEY SHOT THEM DOWN. Like literally with shotguns shot the signs down. Sometimes I really don't like it here...

Word about our American foolishness. I would rather be metric, too. (Although I do take a perverse pleasure in *knowing* all the intracacies of the imperial measurement system).

The real reason for this comment, though, is to give you some icon love. ROFL! Got sucked into reading the WHOLE thing. Very cute. :D

Yes, well, we seem to be having trouble accepting that newfangled theory of evolution around here. >_

Argh! I HATE MM/DD/YY. It sucks so much - like you said, it's completely illogical. But, if I write dates in DD/MM/YY, no one here will understand. So, instead, I use that format, only I write out the month. So, for example, today is 8 July, 2005. That way I can be happy using the format I like, but everyone here will still be able to read it. :D
