Why does my dictionary refuse to tell me the right words?

I love those random bits of information that turn up in my textbooks.
I guess if I ever had to enter a room I suspect to contain carbon monoxide and thought myself safe after I saw frogs hopping around, it *would* be useful to know that frogs don't get CO-intoxications because they don't depend on their haemoglobin for their oxygen-needs.

ETA: I'm pretty sure it says something (though I have no idea what) that I would choose Valentine's Day to post about frogs.

Oh, I think this is a FINE day to talk about frogs. (As I steadfastly ignore anything to do with hearts or flowers ::grin::).

We were talking about carbon monoxide at my class on Saturday. And carbon dioxide, too, which is one of the things they use to euthanize the animals at the hospital. That's very interesting about frogs, though, and the haemoglobin. I'll file that one away in my brain, and impress someone with it one of these days. Or just prove, yet again, what a huge Hermione-know-it-all geek I really am.

:D

Oh, good to know. We had our CO alarm go off one night when I thought the fire in the fireplace was out and it was smoldering, alarm went off like at 2 am. The CO level wasn't all that serious, but it was pretty scary.
