Today there was a Spanish woman with her dog. She had brought her friend who speaks both German and Spanish because she herself doesn't speak German very well. The vet - who's French but has lived in Germany for years - said he was sorry he didn't speak Spanish, if only she spoke French, ...
Incidentally she did.

That's one examination I won't forget. Mostly French with the occasional German word thrown in or a short Spanish question for the right German word to her friend.

Moral: I really need to brush up on my Spanish. My French isn't much better. But at least I understood most of what was said.
